The Fed has pushed back hard on expectations it will pause rate hikes, with officials saying it’s ‘nowhere near’ done

MarketsInsider/Staff/8-3-2022

“Federal Reserve officials have pushed back against expectations that the central bank will pause its interest-rate hikes sooner than expected, with one official saying the central bank is ‘nowhere near’ done.”

USAGOLD note: It’s never been a question of direction with respect to Fed policy, but to what degree. Will the Fed raise rates to a level high enough to contain inflation? All else is just political posturing, in our view…… Even so, serious malfunctions could occur in the credit system even if the Fed stays behind the curve, raising the prospect of an early pivot.
